Book Launch – English Poem Anthology
Budding Bards
On 4th August 2023, a book of poems penned by twenty-eight young poets of S.M.A., Ajmer was launched. The anthology includes 80-90 poems chosen from over 200 poems submitted during Poetry Writing Month, April 2023. Rt. Rev. Bishop Pius Thomas D’souza presided as the Chief Guest and also blessed the creative skills and hard work of the students. The Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Cosmos Shekhawat also prayed for the success of the students and their well being.
Sr. Anusha, the Principal extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and parents of the budding poets. Sr. Principal highlighted the fact that this anthology aimed to achieve the objectives mentioned in the New Education Policy such as – enhance creative and independent thinking, inculcate a love and pride for our country and our diversity, foster rational and critical thinking, and the likes.
The guests of honour – Dr. Rashna David and Dr. Vinita Ashit Jain addressed the audience and inspired the students through their empowering words. They stressed on the power of words and the need to choose them wisely at all times. The Rev. Bishop congratulated the participants and appreciated their efforts.
The students – Serene Manghnani, Krutika Deshpande and Ekansha Goyal shared their experience of writing poems and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Sr. Principal for her noble initiative, guidance and support in the successful completion of this project.
The book was launched in the presence of the other special guests – Sr. Arlene, the Principal of Sophia School, Ajmer, Fr. Amit and Mr. Prakash Jain, the President of the Inter Faith Association, Ajmer. A sense of thrill and cheer filled the hearts of everyone gathered there when the twenty-eight poets joined the guests for a group photograph which will go down in history as one of the most momentous occasions of the 128 year old S.M.A., Ajmer.
A prize giving followed wherein the five students (Bhagyashree Sharma, Deveshi Vajpayee, Komal Mulani, Nandani Narwani, and Taniya Singh) who completed the challenge were awarded certificates. The winner of the competition Deveshi Vajpayee was awarded a certificate and applauded for her good work.
The emcee of the event and also the editor of the poem anthology, Elvira Fernandez invited Labhanshi Bansal, one of the poets of the anthology and the Captain of Gandhi House to propose the vote of thanks as the ceremony came to a close.
The media personnel from various newspapers and news channels covered the event in the guidance of Mrs. Deepti Chinaria. The poem anthology is published by one of the noted publishers of the city, Abhinav Prakashan.
