Inter-House English Debate Competition (Turncoat)

An Inter-House English Debate Competition (a turncoat) was organized on 7th October 2023. The competition was open to students from classes IX to XII. Four participants from each House presented their views in favour of and against the motion for the day – Schools should do away with homework altogether. A total of seventeen debaters kept the audience spell bound with their contentions. They debated to and fro making it difficult for the judges to pick the top three speakers. The time allotted to each speaker was 3 minutes to prove their viewpoint. The jury listened carefully and judged the speakers on the following criterion: Content, Delivery, Language, Smoothness in Turncoat and Overall presentation. After the last speaker had shared her views, two of the judges Ma’am Jasjeet and Ma’am Rashmi Solomon were invited to speak of their experiences. Kashish Ramchandani and Bhumika Aswani from Class XII Commerce presented the song ‘Memories’ in their melodious voices, which Rupal Jain accompanied them beautifully on the guitar. While the results were awaited, Sr. Anusha, the Principal addressed the attentive gathering and opened the floor for an open discussion between the teachers and students on the topic. Sister later brought the debating event to a close by declaring the results amidst much excitement and cheering. Sr. Anusha also thanked Ma’am Elvira and her team for the successful organization of an interesting debate. At the end the comperes – Anjali Lalwani and Labhanshi Bansal thanked everyone present for their involvement and enthusiasm throughout.
