Diwali Celebration 2019
Diwali- Festival of lights was celebrated by St. Mary’s Convent Sr. Sec. School on 19.10.19 with fervor. The entire programme was meaningfully presented by the primary students under the guidance of the teachers. The Ramayana story was enacted in brief to give the clear message to all, that good will always triumph over evil. Students presented a “Nukkad Natak” (street play), to create awareness about the harmful effects of fire crackers on human health and environment followed by melodious song. The function ended with a speech by Sister Principal who expressed her deep concern about the environment and advised the students to celebrate Eco- friendly Diwali.
On this happy occasion Sr. Principal gave away the SudhaJyot Awards for Creative Excellence and the Bard of S.M.A. Awards for students excelling in English Story Writing and English Poetry Writing respectively. Both these awards have been initiated by ex-students. They include certificates and books as prizes.
As the celebration drew to an end, the students wished the Sisters and Teachers a Happy Diwali and presented them with earthen lamps painted and decorated by them. The School closed for the Diwali Break for a fortnight.
