St. Mary’s Convent Sr. Sec. School, Ajmer participated in the Inter School Debate Competition organized by Rashtriya Military School, Ajmer on 6th and 7th October 2022 in keeping with the occasion of Wildlife & Environment Conservation Week.
The competition was open to students in the Senior Category. Schools from Ajmer and Nasirabad enrolled for the competition. The invitation for participation was graciously accepted by Sr. Anusha, the Principal. Divanshi Utwani and Nitya Rochani represented S.M.A. in the English debate. The topic of the debate for the Qualifying Round on 6th October was: Should animals be conserved at detriment of Human Welfare. While Divanshi spoke in favour of the topic, Nitya spoke against the motion. The speakers were judged by an esteemed panel of judges from a wide range of professional backgrounds on the basis of Factual Evidence, Delivery, Rebuttal and Overall Impact. While Divanshi gave a flawless performance Nitya won a prize for Good Language. The team secured their place for the Final Round.
The Final Round of the debate was organized on 7th October with a new topic: Economic Development of the Society is a stumbling block for the Sustainable Development of Environment. Both the debaters left no stone unturned and gave their best during the extremely short time of preparation and then the presentation on stage. With Divanshi Utwani winning the title of second best speaker of the evening the team clinched the third spot on the basis of the aggregate marks of both the participants.
