Fitness Week
St. Mary’s celebrated the Fitness Week with great vigour. Students participated enthusiastically in the early morning yoga session co-ordinated by Mrs. Khushboo Mandawaria, a qualified Yoga Instructor. Various Assamese games such as – Dhop khel, Dhora Hao, Bonda Boha Hao, Tang Guti were taken up and enjoyed during the games periods. The P.T. periods saw the eager participation of all the students. Posters on the theme ‘Fit Body-Fit Mind-Fit Environment’ were made by the students and the best ones were displayed on the tag boards. Students were encouraged to write poems in English on the topic ‘Fit India School’, the best ones were recited during the Morning Assembly. Also, during the morning assembly the students were made aware of the ‘Khelo India App’ and its functions. The physical trainer, Mr. Mohsin downloaded the app and used it to check the fitness of the students especially the athletes, players and gymnasts from various classes.
The Eco Club of the School conducts plantation drives every year and encourages the students to undertake gardening as a fitness activity by looking after the plants grown by them. During the Fitness week students were motivated to spend more time watering, conversing and tending to their plants. The celebration of Fitness Week helped in creating a greater awareness about the need to be fit and healthy – both physically and mentally.
