International Yoga Day
Celebrations at S.M.A., Ajmer
International Yoga Day 2023 was celebrated with great enthusiasm in St. Mary’s Convent Sr. Sec. School, Ajmer. More than six hundred students participated and performed a number of yogasanas under the guidance of Mr. Devanshu Ojha a highly qualified yoga instructor.
The day dawned bright with the students dressed in their house colours eager to partake of our ancient yogic practices. After the morning prayer and loosening exercises the team demonstrating the various asanas led the students through Surya Namaskar, Vrikshasana, Tadasana, Ardha Ustrasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Shavasana, and Bhramri Pranayama.
The comperes Srishti Sharma and Jiya Jain from Class VIII not only held together the event through their charismatic speaking skills but also provided interesting snippets of information about the origin of yoga in India, its gradual spread worldwide, its advantages and the role of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in popularising its worth as a day to be devoted and celebrated at the global level. They both also enlightened the august gathering that this year’s theme – ‘One World, One Health’ resonates with the principle of ‘vasudhaiva kutumbakam’.
Sr. Anusha, the Principal addressed the students, teachers and others gathered on the occasion and reinforced the benefits of practicing yoga regularly. Sister thanked Mr. Devanshu Ojha for sparing valuable time to guide the students and presented him with a token of gratitude. Sr. Principal also appreciated the efforts of the physical training instructors Mr. Mohsin Khan and Mrs. Jenifer Cleopas to organise the session. Sister expressed gratitude to the students for participating in large numbers and making the occasion a grand success.
The comperes proposed a vote of thanks at the end bringing the event to a fitting close.
